Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Sharon Pepukayi, is back for a public conversation focused on the importance of keeping the student at the forefront of education decisions.

After being selected as the new Superintendent, Pepukayi shared her excitement and humbleness on leading Talbot County Public Schools in an interview with “The Star Democrat.”  “I am excited to be leading a district of students and working with community members where I grew up,” she said. “I am able to speak with students about my educational journey and the experience I had — I had a great experience — and I want to afford that opportunity for all TCPS students.

“I’m a big proponent of ‘student voice’ and having current students at the table to help the adults make the decisions that affect their education,” she shares.  I am talking to students to find out what’s good, what’s bad, and what they feel indifferent about concerning their education and school experience. I want kids to feel comfortable talking about their educational journey and what we can do to help them discover opportunities and take advantage of all that TCPS has to offer.”

Come and hear Pepukayi’s views on how primary and secondary students are doing in the Talbot County Public Schools and how she and her staff are working to affect positive change.

This program is being provided at NO CHARGE as a community service.

What to Expect:

This will be a discussion with Dr. Pepukayi about how her 1st year and a half has gone, and her expectations and hopes for what still needs to be accomplished. Questions are welcome and may be submitted in advance at info@chesapeakeforum.org.

Feedback from Dr. Pepukayi’s last course:

“Tonight was an important dialogue with Dr. P … I believe she (and her senior staff) learned more from the questions asked.  And the audience learned more from her Q&A responses.”

“What a wonderful opportunity—first that Dr. Pepukayi has returned to serve as our newest TCPS superintendent, and then that she was willing to fit us into her intensely busy schedule in order to better connect and educate all stakeholders in our region about what is being planned to bring our teachers and students to equity in pay and opportunities for education in the County. Thank you, Dr. P!”

“Tonight’s program made me feel that our public schools are in good hands!”
