Just in time for the Cambridge leg of the Skipjack race series!  Will they have enough wind the next morning?

Kick off Race Weekend with Chesapeake Forum aboard the Skipjack Nathan of Dorchester! Start with a tour of the Choptank River Lighthouse, then head out on the water for an unforgettable adventure among the many Skipjacks gathering for the next day’s race.

You’ll learn how these wooden workboats shaped the Bay’s oyster industry, take part in a real dredge on the Choptank, help cull the catch, and explore the habitat living within an oyster bed. We’ll also share current insights on the Chesapeake’s environmental health and the oyster’s role in its future.

What to expect: 

We’ll meet up at the Cambridge lighthouse on the end of Pier A at Long Wharf Park (Water and High Streets) for a tour of the lighthouse before walking over to board the Skipjack Nathan for an on-the-water learning experience.  On our return, we’ll do a final “victory lap” to see all the boats docked for the race the next day.

This is an open boat so appropriate footwear and clothing is recommended. Be sure to bring sunscreen, a hat, and rain gear.  There will be water on board.
