1861 began with the United States internally fractured as never before in its history. This polarization of thoughts, customs, and politics led to the deadliest war in American history, the Civil War. This course will use the “magic carpet” of original historical newspapers to show visually how North and South covered the Civil War from very different perspectives in graphics, display, and text.
