The Walters Art Museum is among America’s most distinctive museums, forging connections between people and art from cultures around the world and spanning seven millennia.

Dive into history at the Walters Art Museum, which includes collections spanning more than seven millennia, from 5,000 BCE to the 21st century. The museum is located in the Mount Vernon Cultural District, one of Baltimore’s most iconic neighborhoods. The museum’s remarkable permanent collection features ancient Asian art, textiles and furniture, jewelry, arms and armor, and 19th century European art from masters including Millet, Rousseau, Monet, and Manet.

Through its collections, exhibitions, and education programs, the Walters engages audiences across the globe.

Located in Baltimore’s Mount Vernon neighborhood, the museum’s campus includes five historic buildings and 36,000 art objects. Moving through the museum’s galleries, visitors encounter a stunning array of objects, from 19th-century paintings of French country and city life to Ethiopian icons, richly illuminated Qur’ans and Gospel books, ancient Roman sarcophagi, and images of the Buddha.

What to Expect:

We have arranged for a docent tour after our 11am entrance time. After the tour, you will have plenty of time to explore with friends before meeting up to leave at 3pm to return to Easton.

With over 36,000 pieces of art spread out over a large campus, there’s a lot to see. The Palazzo-style building at 600 North Charles Street models a 17th century Italian palace, and the Centre Street building, built in 1974, is designed in a Brutalist style and includes art studios, an auditorium, the café, and a gift shop. You may bring your lunch or visit the Walters Cafe – a great spot for coffee or lunch.

Lighten your Load:  Store large bags over 11″×15″, instruments, and umbrellas in our complimentary lockers. Small backpacks can be worn on the front, carried to the side, or placed securely on a wheelchair or stroller.

Take Photos:  Photography is encouraged unless otherwise noted. Please turn your flash off and store tripods and selfie sticks in a complimentary locker.

Treat Yourself:  Enjoy a coffee, a beverage, or a bite in the Walters Cafe, or stop by the Museum Store for a soon-to-be cherished item for yourself or someone special.
