Walk in the halls of our nation’s history and experience the historical and architectural wonders it has to share. Come away with a new appreciation for our nation.
Join trip organizer, Doug Holly, in stepping into the center of American history and government with an unforgettable tour of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. This iconic symbol of democracy is more than just a landmark—it’s where the nation’s laws are debated, shaped, and passed. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a political buff, or simply curious about the nation’s story, the Capitol offers an enriching and inspiring experience for visitors of all ages.
We begin our visit at the Capitol Visitor Center, where interactive exhibits and historic artifacts provide powerful insights into the legislative process and the evolution of American government. From there, a guided tour takes us through the majestic Rotunda, where Presidents and heroes have lain in state, and marvel at the awe-inspiring architecture, detailed frescoes, and symbolic sculptures that fill the space. Visit the National Crypt below the Rotunda, with statues representing the 13 original colonies. We will also view the Magna Carta replica and display, a bicentennial gift from Great Britain and whose principles underlie much of the Constitution. While the Crypt was built for the remains of George and Martha Washington, no one has ever been buried in the Capitol. We’ll explore the National Statuary Hall, where each state is represented by two statues of notable citizens, and learn fascinating stories behind the art, design, and history of this working seat of Congress.
Expert guides bring the Capitol’s rich legacy to life with engaging stories that connect past to present. In addition to the basic tour that morning, Doug has scheduled time for us to choose among several other tours as well. Lots of interesting things to explore!
A U.S. Capitol tour offers a unique perspective on the values and struggles that continue to shape the United States. Don’t miss the chance to walk the same paths as presidents, lawmakers, and activists and be inspired by the enduring spirit of American democracy.
