Leave your traditional perceptions of museums behind and join us on a visit to the American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM), a must-see Baltimore landmark dedicated to fresh thought, humor, and creative intuition.

Featuring the work of self-taught artists including farmers, mathematicians, prison inmates, and people with mental illness, AVAM challenges the notions of what it means to be an artist. If you like walking to the beat of your own drum, you’ll love this inclusive space for “outsider” art.  From carved roots to embroidered rags, tattoos to toothpicks, ‘the visionary’ transforms dreams, loss, hopes, and ideals into powerful works of art. “One of the most fantastic museums anywhere in America” – CNN; “Best Museum in Maryland” – USA Today; “A temple of outsider art” – New York Times.

What to Expect:

Join Chesapeake Forum for an Executive Bus ride over the bridge to one of Baltimore’s treasures!  AVAM’s three historic buildings in the Federal Hill neighborhood of Baltimore house wonders created by farmers, housewives, mechanics, the disabled, the homeless, as well as the occasional neurosurgeon – all inspired by the fire within.

Please Note: We will travel by Executive Bus leaving at 8:30 am from the Easton Fire Dept. parking lot and returning around 4:30 pm.  Arrive at 8:00 am to get your pick of seating on the bus.  Food service is not available at the Museum; however, you are welcome to bring food and drinks on the bus, or take a quick walk to restaurants nearby.  The bus will leave for our return to Easton at 3 pm.
