Understanding the adverse effects of alcohol consumption and mitigating these effects with nutritional solutions.
Alcohol abuse is a well-known contributor to a shortened lifespan. However, by applying common-sense principles based on the broader science of food chemistry, we can help counteract this negative effect.
In this course, Steve identifies eight adverse effects of alcohol consumption, categorized into three groups:
1) Cellular Health
2) Hormonal Balance
3) Uptake and/or Loss of Vital Nutrients
The identification of the adverse effects and the corresponding nutritional solutions is rooted in the research and therapeutic protocols of Dr. Charles S. Lieber, the leading authority on the effects of alcohol on the body. Dr Lieber was a researcher and teaching professor at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City and a practicing physician at the Veterans Hospital in the Bronx. Dr. Lieber and his colleagues identified these adverse effects and developed nutritional solutions for each.
What to Expect: Each session of this course will focus on specific adverse effects, correct common misinformation found on the Internet, highlight the research that identified each effect, and explore the nutritional solutions used by healthcare professionals to mitigate each effect. A copy of the handbook titled “The ABC’s of Alcohol and Nutrition” with educational addendums will be available for a $10 purchase at the class.
