Learn about the history of barbershop singing and how those harmonizations can play an important role in our well being.

Trace the beginnings of barbershop singing and how it grew as a uniquely American musical style and follow its history from beginning to present. We will have a quartet on hand to demonstrate the four voice parts that create harmony in Barbershop singing. Gain an appreciation of music and how it can raise the self esteem of patients with dementia. Appreciate how music can ease loneliness. 

What to Expect:  We will trace the beginnings of barbershop singing in the United States and follow its history from beginning to present. A quartet will be on hand to demonstrate the four voice parts that create harmony in Barbershop singing.

Lesley Aaron

Lesley Aaron studied voice and piano performance at Towson University. Before moving back to Easton she was Artistic Director for a barbershop group in the Florida keys. She also led and directed Handel's Messiah for 14 years while in Florida. Since March of 2022 she has been VP of Music for the Bay Country Chorus, the Easton Maryland chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society performing throughout the mid-shore of Maryland. Her focus is in helping the public enjoy and appreciate music.
