Discover how simple wool becomes delightful sculpted art as you learn core needle‑felting techniques and create a finished fall project to take home.
Discover the enchanting—and surprisingly addictive—world of needle felting with Farm Girl Felts at Chesapeake Forum. Join Paige Davis and a friendly group of fellow makers as you explore the unique fiber-art techniques that turn simple, loose wool into charming, sculpted items.
Throughout this course, you will dive hands-on into the mechanics of dry felting. You’ll learn how to use specialized, barbed felting needles to repeatedly pierce raw wool roving. This process catches individual fibers, tangling and compressing them to transform loose fluff into solid, stable 3D shapes. Paige will guide you step-by-step through the core stages of the craft: from initial core shaping (building foundational structures) to layering (adding vibrant colors and blending wool tones), and finally, surface detailing (using finer needles to sculpt delicate features, textures, and expressions).
With each new project, you’ll build your confidence, master needle control, and discover how a bit of patience and rhythm can bring a handful of wool to life. You may just find yourself inspired to keep creating long after the workshop ends!
Each session features a popular fall project:
- First Session – Garden Witch
- Second Session – Curly Sheep
- Third Session – Downy Woodpecker
What to expect:
Enjoy a relaxed, hands‑on workshop where you’ll learn the basics of needle felting step by step. Paige will guide you through shaping, layering, and detailing as your fall critter comes to life.
