In 1998 Harriette Lowery returned home to the Eastern Shore, after retiring from the City of Baltimore, in 2002. She is now working at Chesapeake College and with “Friends of Unionville” to educate and promote the history and the contributions of the citizens past and present in Unionville, and to restore the cemetery. Lowery is a descendant of two of the 18 founders. She is on the board of directors of The Stories of the Chesapeake Heritage Area Organization, whose mission is to preserve, protect, interpret, and promote the cultural landscape of all the diverse communities on the Upper Eastern Shore. She is also the Talbot County Council’s village representative from Unionville. Harriette Lowery and her husband Eric now reside on the land in the village of Unionville where her grandparents raised their 12 children.
