Discover the hidden gems, forgotten voices, and surprising works from too often ignored corners of classical music history.
Many remarkable composers never became widely known, yet left behind music that is inventive, beautiful, and full of personality. At the same time, even the most famous composers—Ravel, Strauss, Saint‑Saëns, Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and others—created works that remain overshadowed by their greatest hits.
In this course, Muphen introduces us to both: the striking music of lesser‑known composers such as Marina Dranishnikova, James Hook, Ferdinand Ries, Friedrick Gulda, and Caspar Cassadó, and the overlooked gems tucked inside the catalogs of the great masters. Together, these works reveal a richer, more surprising classical landscape than the standard repertoire suggests.
We will hear all of these — and more!
What to expect:
We’ll listen to and learn about composers who deserve far more attention, explore unfamiliar pieces by household names, and discover why these works—though rarely performed—are deeply rewarding to hear.
