Learn to create a layered bulb container that blooms all spring long – using Trish’s easy lasagna planting technique..
Discover how to create a stunning bulb garden with Trish’s step-by-step instruction introducing us to the lasagna planting technique for potted spring bulbs. Learn how layering bulbs for successive blooms extends the beauty of Spring!
What to expect:
You will spend the morning immersed in the beauty and science of spring bulbs as Trish shares the knowledge she’s gained from naturalizing more than 40,000 bulbs on her own property.
Trish will begin by introducing the world of bulbs from the ground up — their anatomy, growth habits, and what they need to thrive — before moving into the companion plants that enhance them and the many varieties beyond the familiar daffodils and tulips. Along the way, you’ll explore the delightful history of Tulip Mania in 17th‑century Holland and learn how different daffodil classifications shape color, form, and bloom time.
Throughout the session, Trish will weave in practical guidance drawn from her gardens, containers, tools, books, and catalogues, creating a rich understanding of how bulbs behave and how to work with them creatively.
After discussion and questions, she’ll demonstrate the “lasagna” layering method and plant a container in real time. We’ll raffle off the finished pot to one lucky participant to take home, and everyone will leave with a curated bag of bulbs to plant in their own container at home.
Please note: The charge for this Chesapeake Forum course includes the cost of imported bulbs and potting soil, plus a minimal contribution to Forum overheads. **Seats for this program are giftable but not refundable unless there is someone on the waitlist to take the seat. **
