Discover the timeless ancient Greek philosophy of Stoicism, and The Art of Living, and see how it remains popular today.

Together, we’ll look at how Epictetus distilled Stoic ideas into practical guidance for navigating challenges, cultivating inner freedom, and living simply but purposefully. We’ll also compare Stoic thought with Epicurean ideas, examining where these two ancient schools overlap and where they diverge. Along the way, we’ll consider why Stoicism has found new life in popular culture, professional development, and contemporary psychology.

Expect lively discussion, accessible exploration of key concepts, and a deeper appreciation for the creativity and clarity of ancient philosophical inquiry—and how it still resonates today.

What to expect:

Through Forest’s guided discussion and close reading, we’ll explore Epictetus’s Enchiridion—a concise, practical handbook on how to live with clarity, purpose, and inner steadiness. Forest will introduce key Stoic ideas in an accessible way, encouraging thoughtful conversation about how these ancient insights connect to modern life.   We can expect a welcoming, intellectually curious environment where questions are encouraged and philosophical concepts become tools for reflection rather than abstract theory. You’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for the creativity and radical simplicity of Stoic thought and why it continues to inspire readers today.
