Dr. Jamie Pierson is a biological oceanographer at the Horn Point Laboratory in Cambridge, a campus of the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science. His research focus is primarily on zooplankton, or animal plankton that eat algae and provide food for fish and shellfish. He has recently begun working on microplastics in the Choptank River with colleagues at Horn Point Laboratory.
