Tim Carney is a Senior Environmental Specialist (SES) with the Maryland Environmental Service (MES), where he is an official bird observer and Birding Tour leader. His responsibilities at Poplar Island also include invasive species control, tree mitigation monitoring and wetland vegetation monitoring. Aside from actively birding in his free time, he is also an eBird Reviewer for Maryland and a former member of the Maryland & DC Records Committee. As MES’ resident expert bird naturalist, he continues to operate at a high standard whether he is at work or on a weekend birding Big Day with fellow local birders. His work has offered valuable information to the Port of Baltimore (MDOT MPA) regarding bird usage at all MDOT MPA Harbor Development facilities. Tim is frequently the face of MDOT MPA on most media and public presentation inquiries regarding the birding at the various sites as well as the eagles at Masonville Cove.
